Public Relations
Taking it to the people
Public relations is a solid marketing tool, as long as you do it properly. Do it right and PR can build profile, raise awareness and create familiarity with customers, stakeholders and new target audiences. PR is not about promotion; it’s about strengthening your reputation through relevant news and opinion and creating a dialogue with journalists, editors and readers.
But being newsworthy needs thought – not everything which matters to you is important to the wider world. Sometimes it’s about the angle – it might be a new product or service being launched, a new customer secured, a company milestone or an opinion on something which is happening nationally, internationally or in a particular marketplace. Ultimately the power of PR lies in the fact that the unbiased third party – the editor, the newspaper, the blogger, the website – endorses you as the expert in your field over and above your competitors.
PR can take many forms – especially today when online news matters as much (or more than) the printed word. Fundamentally PR places a company or an individual in the public domain as the ‘go to’ entity for the subject matter. This might take the form of an article in a magazine or newspaper, a piece in an online news story or a mention on social media.
At Recenseo we use PR to make you relevant for your target audience – engaging with the press as appropriate to deliver an increased profile through timely, intelligent and thought provoking news and content.
