Stinking Bishop, the award winning British cheese produced by Charles Martell and Son, has chosen Recenseo to provide strategic marketing guidance and support for the brand.
Stinking Bishop is a washed rind cheese, produced since 1994 by Charles Martell and Son in Gloucestershire, a cheesemaker with a royal warrant of appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales.
The cheese has a mild taste that belies its infamous smell, which comes as a result of it being washed in perry during its two week aging process. It is sold through a range of independent farm shops and delicatessens as well as through high-end grocers including Selfridges and Harrods. Stinking Bishop became widely known in popular culture following a reference in Wallace and Gromit in 2005, later being referred to in the Monty Python Live version of the Cheese Shop Sketch and more recently appearing in David Walliams’ Grandpa’s Great Escape.
Recenseo will be working with Charles Martell and Son to provide strategic direction for all marketing activities including online presence, social media activities, public relations and events.
